It is a worldwide trend; it began in the developed countries but now is spreading everywhere. Some countries in Africa and Asia are still having a high fertility rate above the replacement rate of 2.1. but in the coming decades, most likely they will begin to drop as well.
The impact of this trend affects the future of humans in many ways: the pension systems will collapse, the economies will stop growing, the population will become older, and if the trend continues after the end of the century, the global population will begin to decline.
